In the 1960's, this store changed hands and became Lerman's Department Store, selling clothes, shoes, and fabrics on the first floor. The store owners/operators lived in a spacious apartment on the second floor.
During the late 1970's Lermans closed, and the store reopened as The Dollar General Store.
In 1986, the store building was bought by Bev Ingram, the present owner. She fulfilled a longtime dream, and The Red Scooter was born.
The upstairs has been opened up to the public to view while shopping.
